    Tara Acton -- Director of Claims and Senior Corporate Counsel, CenturyLink, Inc.

    Tara Acton has been the Director of Claims and Counsel for CenturyLink and one of its predecessors, Qwest Communications, since October 2008. In this role, she is responsible for the casualty claim program, including management of CenturyLink’s third-party administrator. She also manages outside counsel handling liability claims. Prior to joining CenturyLink’s risk management department, she spent a year in the law department focusing on litigated liability claims. Before moving in-house, she was in private practice at Berenbaum, Weinshienk & Eason, P.C. and Cooley Godward LLP in Denver.

    Michele Adams -- Vice President, Risk Operations & Casualty Claims, Walmart

    Michele Adams is the Vice President, Risk Operations & Casualty Claims at Walmart. Michele is an advisory council member, emeritus, and founding board member at the Alliance. With over twenty-five years of industry experience, she has spent the last twenty at the Walt Disney World Resort where she lead all aspects of the resort’s risk management program.  She considers her work both challenging and very rewarding.

    Virginia Baba -- Senior Manager Claims, Risk Management, PetSmart, Inc.

    Virginia Baba has spent the last twelve of her eighteen years at PetSmart managing all workers’ compensation, general liability, property, transportation and cargo claims. After spending twenty-two years in banking and treasury management for America West Airlines, Smitty’s Food Chain, American Stores/Albertsons, and PetSmart, she transitioned to claims management, where she specializes in the implementation of innovative solutions that drive total program optimization, stakeholder alignment, accountability, and an enterprise-wide education program. Virginia and her team were also the recipients of the Risk and Insurance 2013 Theodore Roosevelt ‘Teddy’ Award.

    Maggie Biggs -- Senior Director of Global Risk Management, VF Corporation

    Maggie Biggs is currently serves as the Senior Director of Global Risk Management at VF Corporation, responsible for delivering risk finance and insurance, claims management, and health and safety solutions to more than 70,000 associates. Prior to working at VF, Maggie was the Director of Risk Management & Insurance at PetSmart Inc. and the Project Resources Manager at Two Degrees.

    Janine Kral -- Vice President Risk Management, Nordstrom, Inc.

    As Vice President of Risk Management for Nordstrom, Inc., Janine is responsible for all aspects of Risk—assessment, mitigation and management. She oversees all litigation and claims, insurance procurement, risk control/safety and business continuity planning. To do so, she oversees a team of sixty-nine individuals who provide direct risk management support to all Nordstrom locations.

    Prior to joining Nordstrom, Janine was a Claims Manager at Epic Insurance Services and Liberty Mutual Insurance. She received a degree in Communications and Psychology from the University of Washington and has an ARM designation. She is on the Board of Directors for the WCRI and a member of RIMSm and is a 25 year volunteer with the juvenile court system in Seattle, Washington.

    Faith Mason --  Senior Manager, Workers’ Compensation, Comcast NBCUniversal

    Faith Mason is the Senior Manager of Workers’ Compensation at Comcast NBCU.  In her role, she manages the workers’ compensation program totaling over $150M in risk, leading her team with strategic oversight of the TPA program.  Previously, Faith worked for Deloitte Consulting where she assisted with the expansion of the Claims Consulting Branch specializing in operations management, process improvement, and Predictive Model development and implementation.  Faith has worked for several Fortune 500 companies including, Liberty Mutual, Deloitte, and now Comcast NBCUniversal.

    Faith is a member of RISE (Rising Insurance Star Executives where she is a co-host of the DE&I Podcast Off the Record. She is on the Employee Advisory Committee for the Alliance of Women and Workers’ Compensation and is a Board Member for Kids’ Chance of America and FC& S. Faith earned her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia.

    Nancy Strubler -- Director of Workers’ Compensation, National Express

    Nancy Strubler is the Director of Workers’ Compensation for National Express with broad based experience in claim management, risk assessment and client relations. After spending nearly two decades working in the Risk & Insurance field for multimillion-dollar insurance carriers, Nancy knows what truly drives complex claims from both the employer and insurance side. Nancy holds a BA in Philosophy and a Masters in Human Resources from Aurora University.

    Janice Van Allen -- Senior Director, Risk Management, Walmart

    Janice Van Allen, in her role at Walmart, is responsible for managing Workers’ Compensation claims for all divisions of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., including Walmart Stores, Sam’s Club, and Walmart’s Logistics, and Transportation operations. During her 12 years in Walmart’s Risk Management, she has had responsibility for directing the General Liability, Auto Liability, Druggist Liability, and Workers’ Compensation claims management teams.

    Ms. Van Allen develops strategies to improve overall claim outcomes and improve efficiencies for claims adjusters across the three TPAs managing Walmart’s claims. She led Walmart’s initiative to provide an ERISA alternative for workplace injuries in Texas and qualified self-insurance in Maine.

    Janice is an active board member of the New York Self-Insured’s Association and Louisiana Association of Self-Insured Employers.

    Joan Vincenz -- Managing Director, Operations Risk, United Airlines

    Joan Vincenz has served as the Managing Director of Operations Risk at United Airlines since 2011. She has enterprise-wide responsibilities for emergency response, business continuity planning, workers compensation, managed care and on-site clinics. Prior to joining United Airlines, Joan worked for Delta Air Lines in several leadership roles managing programs related to flight attendants, strategic planning, and product marketing.
    Joan is a graduate of Wheaton College and acquired her MBA from the Goizueta School at Emory University. She also holds an ARM designation.

    Dawn Watkins -- Director of Integrated Disability Management, Los Angeles United School District

    Dawn Watkins is the Director of Integrated Disability Management for the Division of Risk Management and Insurance Services at the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). The LAUSD is the second-largest school system in the United States, with approximately 60,000 employees including its own police force. Dawn began her career there in 2004 and has held various positions across the district including Chief Risk Management Officer.
    Dawn previously worked for the City of Torrance as the Workers' Compensation Administrator, and has held prior roles as a claims examiner. Dawn holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing, along with designations in AIC, ARM, PHR, and SHRM-CP.
